My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently)

Rhamnus crocea (Spiny redberry) is a costal native. It is a low growing evergreen shrub that inland could do with some afternoon shade. With its dark green leaves and red berries a beautiful shrub for in the garden. I just planted this shrub and still need to create some afternoon shade to make it feel at home. I have been reading that this shrub only get its berries if it is happy. Let's look if the berries will appear in the next years.
