My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently)

Symphoricarpos albus (Snowberry) is Californian native that grows mostly along streams. So you can already guess that is does best with some summer water and afternoon shade. However it can handle full sun and is quite drought tolerant.
You don't have to buy many plants to get a nice thicket. If it is happy, it will spread by underground rhizomes, making it as well an excellent plant for holding banks. I have found a second plant shooting up this spring from rhizomes... it is happy!
It is a delicate looking shrub with its little leaflets. The main attraction are the white berries in winter, preceded by little pinkish flowers in spring.
