Join us for the third “native plants in the landscape” garden tour, Native Plant Gardens and Landscapes Garden Tour 2010, presented by Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society. Event will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10 am- 4 pm. Cost is $5 per person (children 12 and under free); tickets with addresses and maps to the private gardens are available at local nurseries (Wyntour Gardens, Gold Leaf Nursery, Creekside Gardens, Red Bluff Garden Center).
The tour features five gardens in the Redding area, ranging from city-lot-sized gardens crammed with wonderful features, to large suburban gardens with sweeping views of mountains and river, to a mature native plant garden in a public space. Gardens feature native plants, drought-tolerant companion plants, and ideas for attracting birds, dealing with deer, coexisting with pets. Garden owners will be available from 10am to 4 pm. These gardens are beautiful, waterwise, diverse works of skill and love. Be inspired by our gardeners, get advice and lots of ideas for waterwise gardening in your own garden, see mature native plants in a garden setting, purchase native plants, books, and bird items.
Native Plant and Book Sale at Irey Garden; Wintu Audubon Society members will provide bird-attracting information at Irey Garden.
